Yodsaenklai on WBC Muaythai Titles in Jamica

Three WBC MUAYTHAI World Titles head a super card spectacular scheduled for Kingston, Jamaica on 20 June

The event is one of the biggest professional Muaythai events ever staged outside of Thailand and features the top WBC defending champions Yodsaenkklai Fairtex and Lamsongkram Chuwattna.

Fresh was winning the Asian Contenders TV series against WBC Australian rival John Wayne Parr, Yodsaenglai will take on USA-based Thailand superstar Malaipet Team Diamond.

While the undefeated and undisputed WBC champion Yodsaengklai is heavily favored to retain his super welterweight crown, Malaipet has been training hard for his one shot at the prestigious title.

Yodsaenklai is also booked to fight Dutchman Marco Pique in he huge Holland V Thailand WBC MUAYTHAI World Championships to be staged in Holland on 30 November. The SLAMM WBC promotion includes several world titles with the match-ups featuring the best Thais and Dutch Muaythai fighters. But this month the eyes of all Muaythai fans are focused on he big Jamaica event that has fight fans in the Caribbean buzzing.

Promoter Dennis Warner said the build-up in Jamaica had been sensational. ?There?s a lot expectation with the big names like Lamsongkram and Yodsaenklai certain to draw a big crowd?

Middleweight champ Lamsongkram will have to be at is best against French superstar Farid Villaume, who is known for his lightening KO punches. Lamsongkram is famous for his strong grappling and is the master of the elbow weapon.

The Super Cruiserweight WBC World Championship also holds a lot of interest with top ranked Dutchman Ashwin Balrak matched against Australian Steve McKinnon for the vacant title.

McKinnon has taken the WBC limelight from fellow countryman Natham Corbett who has been unable to defend his WBC cruiserweight belt.

Yodseanklai: Contender Asia Talks The "Diamond" Challenge

Yodseanklai Fairtex is officially the nicest guy and friendliest champion in Muay Thai. He can easily replace Condoleezza Rice as secretary of state any day. In a sport usually highlighted by boil over rivalries you couldn’t find a friendlier approach talking about your opponent. Rumour has it the Thai diplomatic service has earmarked him for life after Muay Thai.

However don’t let the boyish good looks and soft spoken words fool you- Yod is looking to save something special for his “Diamond” assignment. It’s been a while since this international super star of Muay Thai has fought a fellow countryman.

In his own admission, Malaipet who he considers a “very good” friend will receive special treatment when the WBC super welterweight world title goes up for grabs. The Jamaican extravaganza packed with world title fights, will feature the Yod V Malaipet fight as the headline act. Underlining this will be John Wayne Parr and Marco Pique!

It’s like when Metallica opened for Guns N’ Roses at Joe Robbie stadium back in 1992. It won’t get any better than this!

Malaipet in his interview about Yod and his preparation spoke of respect for each other ability and being the humble Thai he is, Yod is of same thinking. Best of mates, he promises something “special” on the night. After all this is a “Diamond” assignment- not any old fight.

He will be taking wing to Sweden next Saturday for a WMC world title fight and then fly to Jamaica to face Malaipet. As usual he took a few minutes off whilst on a heavy pad session to speak to ROGUE insider.

Without further talk let's get right into the walk....

Q. You have Malaipet for the title coming up; who has promised a “memorable” fight- do you think you can KO him?
A. If I have the opportunity it will happen. Yeah we will see, if it happens it happens. I like that- he has promised a memorable fight, I can say the same.

Q. Are there any weaknesses you see in Malaipet you can exploit- if so what are they?
A. To be honest hardly any, Malaipet is a good fighter I like his kicks. He’s a great fighter- so not many weaknesses

Q. In the past, after Andy Souwer you said you didn’t have any particular game plan- is it the same or anything different for this fight? Have you got a “special” game plan?
A. Same, I just train hard and plan to win. If I do what have trained for and execute the plan—don’t want to give too much away but I am very confident of winning.

Q. Some people argue that you depend too much on your left kick and hard punches, anything different this time? Will we see Yod throw any elbows?
A. I will be fighting a Thai not foreign fighter so I am sure you will see something different. It will be exciting, watch the fight and you will see what will happen!

Q. Will you fight anymore Thai "top-guns" anytime soon, more action at home?
A. There could be more fights with Thai fighters in the future but see how i go first, yeah i think i have more fights to come soon.

Q. How as the whole experience of “Contender- Asia”? Did you enjoy it and tell us about the victory against John Wayne Parr?
A. I had good time and good experience. The victory was amazing for me, it was a dream come true to me. John is a good fighter and good friend. The whole show was great and I will remember it forever. I loved every minute of it!

Q. Does that mean you have edge over Malaipet and better prepared for the fight than him?
A. Malaipet is a great fighter I will find out in Jamaica I guess…

Q. How has your training gone so far, also you fight in Sweden soon- will that help in your build up for Jamaica?
A. I am always training hard and fighting every month. I am looking forward to Jamaica it has been a long time since I fought a Thai fighter, so I am very happy to have this fight in Jamaica.

Q. Lot of people and fans speak of Jamie Ong- you are good friends with her, do you think she will make a good ring card girl? What outfit will she look best in?
A. Ah yes.. He He Yes, she is a beautiful girl and would look good in anything. Very beautiful girl and like i said before to you we are very good friends also...

Q. Do you think she will be good in the ring under full Thai rules- maybe against….?
A. I don’t know- we might have to find out I guess, why don’t you set up a fight, I can be referee! He He He

Q. What are your prediction and any message for Malaipet- who will be reading this for sure…?
A. He is a good friend and I wish him the best. This fight will be one to remember, please everybody- watch this fight we want to have a great fight and may the best man win!

Yodsaenklai Fairtex, Defends His Title in Jamaica

200 Million Viewers world-wide recently tuned in to witness the #1 Muay Thai fighter Yodsaenklai Fairtex take the title on The Contender Asia, Muay Thai’s first reality-based television series on AXN Asia.

Yodsaenklai on WBC Announces World Title Events Dubai - Jamaica - Holland

World WBC MUAYTHAI Super Welterweight Champion Yodsaenklai Fairtex? the winner of the Asian Contenders - will defend his WBC title against USA-based Thailand superstar Malaipet Team Diamond in Kingston, Jamaica on 20 June.

Yodsaenklai won the Asian Contenders final in Singapore beating Australian John Wayne Parr on points is a rematch of their WBC world title contest on the Gold Coast in Australia.

Yodsaenklai is also scheduled to meet with Dutchman Marco Pique (Holland) in Almere Holland on 30 November in a SLAMM WBC championship promotion.

The Jamaica event will be one of the biggest Muaythai championships to be staged anywhere in the world, according to WBC promoter Dennis Warner, who is also scheduling major WBC MUAYTHAI events in Nevada and California.

On the big Jamaica card WBC Middleweight champion Lamsongkram Chuwattana will defend his title against French superstar Farid Villaume (ranked #5).

As well, the Super Cruiserweight WBC Interim World title will be contested between Ashwin Balrak (ranked #1) and Australia?s Steve McKinnon (#7 ranked). McKinnon impressed with his non-championship challenge to fellow countryman and current WBC Cruiserweight belt holder Natham Corbett.

In Macao on 30 May International Top Star Promotions will stage the World Super heavyweight title featuring Europeans Alexei Ignashov (Belarus) and Tomas Hron (Czech) for the vacant title. On the same card the World Super Middleweight Championship will be fought between Prince Hamed (NZ) and Srdjan Spirk (Croatia) for the vacant title.

The WBC will hold its first Muaythai world championships in Dubai in the World Trade Centre on 13 June .

Russia?s outstanding Muaythai combatant Ramazan Ramazanov will fight for the WBC Interim Super Cruiserweight title against Holland?s Rodney Faverus. The winner will fight the winner of McKinnon and Balrak Interim title contest in Jamaica to unify the division.

The Genius Promotions event in Dubai will also feature the WBC Lightweight World Title in an all-Thai championship showdown between Kongpipop King Boxing and Saenchainoy Toyota Rayong. The card also features Big Ben (Thailand) againsts Kieran Keddle (UK) in a 67kg international match-up.

Rumble Of The Kings - Yodsaenklai Wins

K-1 Scandinavia / Rumble of the kings 2008 Rumle of the kings / K-1 Scandinavia is probably the second largest K-1 event in Europé. It's been held in about 5 consecutive years and usually serves as a qualification tournament to either the K-1 Max or WGP events.

Superfight: Yodsaenklai Fairtex vs. Levin Artem Being a WMC world title fight, the fight is introduced with both nationalities national anthem. WMC is the biggest and most acknowledged thai boxing organization in the world. Before the fight both fighters dance the traditional Kru Muay.

Round 1
There's a big height difference between the fighters, almost 20 cm. Levin begins pretty hard and lands several techniques, Yodsaenklai seem totally unaffected though. It's impressive to see how Yodsaenklai can take hits without it showing in any way in his face. Levin is most active in the round, but Yodsaenklai still seem fully in control.

Round 2
In the second round Yodsaenklai begins more active, and suddenly Yodsaenklai KO:s Levin with a right hook. It takes a long time before Levin is unaffected.

Semifinal: Joakim Karlsson vs. Marcus Öberg

Round 1
Both fighters are really focused in the beginning of the round. They throw hard and well aimed techniques at each other. The tempo is mid pace and it's hard to see a clear winner of the round.

Round 2
In the second round Joakim increase the tempo and Marcus adapts. Both fighters have a really tight game and are hard to hit. In the middle of the round the tempo falls back to mid pace, and the fighters begin to look tired. In my opinion Marcus seem to be somewhat better, but Joakim has shaken Marcus a couple of times.

In between rounds Marcus is bleeding from the nose.

Round 3
The tempo in the fight has dropped somewhat, but every technique is delivered hard and precise. This is a very nice technical fight. In the middle of the round Marcus is beginning to take the lead, I don't think Joakim can win the fight. Joakim gets a standing count, and after a few more punches the fight is over.

Both fighters seem really happy and tired after the fight. They're obviously still good friends. The decision must be hard for the judges, as it takes some time to present it. The result is announced as a draw and one more round will separate the fighters.

Round 4
The tempo is back up and Joakim begin to take command with some hard punches in the beginning of the round. Marcus seem shaken, but gets back in the game. After a minute the tempo goes down, the fighters are tired! These are good fighters, but no matter how the fight ends, the fighter going to the final will have a lot of recovery to do. In the middle of the round Marcus seem to be getting the upper hand again.

As the round ends both fighters are super tired and Joakim ends up on the floor. Marcus Öberg is announced as the winner.

Semifinal: Dzhabar Askerov vs. Marco Pique Entering the ring Marco seem relaxed and self assured, Dzhabar seem focused.

Round 1
Both fighters come out focused delivering hard techniques. Marco is longer and has a better reach. In the middle of the round Dzhabar is beginning to get a bit mad for some techniques thtat Marco delivers good. Dzhabar catches Marcos front kick and sends him flying for the floor. At the end of the round Dzhabar seem to be a bit more in control of the fight.

Round 2
Both fighters have increased the tempo, delivering a good fight. This is also an even fight between two skilled fighters exchanging hard techniques. It's a good round, but it's hard to say so much about it.

Round 3
The third round looks much like the other rounds. Towards the middle of the round both fighters increase the tempo, knowing the need to assure a win. A time out gives the fighters some room to breath while Dzhabar is being patched somewhere around the eye. The last minute must become explosive!

Now it's a frenzy, Dzhabar almost pushes Mrco out of the ring, he's stressed about his bleeding eye and wants to end the fight. It will be another fight hard to judge. It's draw and a fourth round will take place.
Dzhabar may have a problem with his cut around the eye.

Round 4
Both fighters are tired but give all that they can. Aftera a sweep that sends both fighters to the floor the fight almost continues MMA-style. Dzhabars eye is being wiped again. Towards the end of the round Dzhabar lands a hard spinning punch, possibly giving him the win.

Dzhabar is announced the winner, the cut above his eye might strongly affect him in the final though. But as Dzhabar says after the fight "I don't care, I'm not a girl!".

Superfight: Virgil Kalakoda vs. Ole Laursen The South African boxer Virgil enters the ring really relaxed, singing and dancing, taking his time. Ole from Denmark seem more focused when he enters and almost looks like he's a thai, all oiled up. It's funny to see the different types of bodies the fighters have, compared to Oles extremely ripped body Virgil amost seem to have the body of a young boy.

Round 1
Virgil look real easy on the feet, dancing and boxing. Delivering many techniques while Ole seem passive. There's not so much energy in the fight so far. I'm not sure what Ole is up to, he's usually a much better fighter than this. Ole has a bandaged knee, maybe it's an explanation to why he's passive.

Round 2
In the second round the fight is becoming somewhat more interesting when Ole begins delivering more. Virgil doesn't hardly look affected by the fight, while Ole begins looking tired. At the end of the round Ole gets a standing count for just taking punches, Ole thinks it's bull shit though.

Round 3
This is another fight. Ole is suddenly in the fight giving Virgil a hard time. Ole seems to be boxing to much though, considering he's facing an experienced boxer. In the middle of the round it's harder to see who will win this fight.

This also becomes a draw, on to round four!

Round 4
Ole comes out hard, but suddenly backs in pain. He must be having problems with his knee. It's a rather even round, with both fighters landing punches and Ole some knees and kicks. At one point Ole goes down on one knee, due to his knee problem. Later Ole jumps away on one foot, no longer able to stand on one leg. He gets a standing count that ends the round. Virgil obviously wins the fight.

Final: Marcus Öberg vs. Dzhabar Askerov Swedens hope to be in the international K-1 circus 2009 stands and falls with Marcus Öberg. Dzhabar seemed really strong in the earlier fights, but the cut above his eye migh pose a problem.

Round 1
1 minute in to the fight Dzhabar is bleeding a bit, but Dzhabar has already showed that he's not to play with. Both fighters deliver a good fight and keep calm. The fight is stopped so Dzhabars cut can be taken care of. Towards the end of the round Dzhabar seem to get tired, and Marcus probably won the round.

Round 2
In the beginning of the round the Swedish crowd yells Dzhabar, somewhat surprisingly. Marcus holds a tight guard against Dzhabars punches, and lands some god knees and kicks. Marcus probably won this round too.

Round 3
Both fightes come out hard but a minute into the fight the match is stopped, Dzhabar is bleeding to much. None of the fighters seem happy about it, but Dzhabar is crying and throws Marcus off him when Marcus tries to comfort him.

Swedish Marcus Öberg (Mamas boy for you who saw the pre fight interviews) is in the K-1 Max Final 16 and the Contender Muay Thai!

Phon's Gym Fighters & Yodsaenklai Fairtex

In 2007 Aaron Marshall, Coquessa Jones and Pamorn Martdee ventured to Fairtex in Pattaya whilst staying in Thailand; Invited by the World Famous ‘Beautiful Boxer’ Nong Toom a good friend of Pamorn; the trio were to spend a rare 2 days and night tasting what Fairtex training and luxury was all about.

Upon arrival to the bustling busy streets of Pattaya it was jaw dropping when the huge building came into view…An almighty resort with the label that is ever growing and rapidly making a name for itself throughout the world of sports today-Fairtex.

This place is probably one of the best places in the world if you want to indulge in 5 star luxury accommodation, tennis, basketball, fitness facilities, swimming pools and of course Muay Thai all in the one time! It is absolutely complete and houses some of the greatest fighters today including Steve Wakeling, Nareupol, Kaew, Nong Toom, Attachai and newest Contender Asia and WBC Muay Thai World Champion Yodsaenklai Fairtex.

Training was a nerve wracking experience; to start off with the three began their training,
Unfortunately all other stars had already finished for the day… Nong Toom watched over them carefully lending a helping hand here and there.

It was only until the next day that the three got to first meet Yodsaenklai and Co.

Having the opportunity to train alongside them in the ring and watch the ‘Computer Wizard’ and his golden left kick and left hook in action.

Pamorn took on both Nareupol and Attachai in grappling and learnt a few new tricks in doing so! All were very friendly and at the same time very amusing…Especially Yodsaenklai! -The funniest thing about him was that he had never ever seen himself on the internet (namely Youtube) in his whole lifetime; even though there were thousands of fan made highlights of him kicking ass!

Pamorn took him into the internet café and typed in the search bar and played some videos away. Yod was absolutely awestruck and at the same time couldn’t believe his eyes at what he was seeing!

The time came to say goodbye and the experience of making new friends with the Fairtex trainers, Yodsaenklai, Attachai, Yodvisanu and Nareupol was all the part rewarding.
All had such a bright, charming and caring nature and taught the three some excellent new tricks of the trade that would sure come in handy…
